Professional Mobile Digital Recording Stack (mint condition)
$21,000 OBO

I am selling a fantastic professional digital recording stack because I am retiring from music production for local bands. My goal is to find this system a new home where another music fanatic will revel in its features.

In my home, I had a few rooms configured for recording local bands. I needed a secure, protected, mobile, and professional digital audio stack that I could move between the rooms. I built this system because a commercial solution containing the leading-edge technology I needed was unavailable.

The technology stack lives within a ventilated, steel Hammond audio-visual cabinet with wheels for mobility. The cabinet has a lockable glass front door and removable side and back panels. The door can be closed while the system is energized, avoiding accidental changes to the system's settings. Two quiet fans are at the top of the cabinet to draw air through the cabinet and keep things cool.

Every component in this system is best of breed from Universal Audio, Furman, Dangerous Music, Mogami, AKG, and Apple:

  • Universal Audio Apollo x16 Audio Interface with UAD DSP

  • Universal Audio 4-710d 4-channel Microphone Preamp & Compressor

  • AKG C414 XL II with an aluminum travel case and round screen

  • Dangerous Music D-BOX+ Monitor Controller & Summing Mixer

  • Furman 20A Prestige Symmetrically Balanced Power Conditioner

  • Mac Mini: MacOS 12.4, 3GHz i7 dual-core processor, 16 GB RAM, 500 GB SSD storage

  • Mogami audio cables using internally.

  • Hercules Microphone Stand

I will include a system diagram showing how all the components are interconnected. The Mogami audio cables are labeled, too.

The Mac Mini is the control point for the system. I've installed and configured Universal Audio's Mixing Console, Meter, Control Panel, and Luna for digital recording and mastering. Dangerous Music's D-BOX application is installed to adjust monitors and headsets remotely. I've configured channels in the mixing console for a guitar, keyboard, microphone, and streaming audio from the Internet. So, it is easy to sample music from the Internet or integrate remote musicians.
